Morning and Night Routines and Their Importance

Have you ever considered standardizing your morning routine? Sure when you’re in a rush to school, your morning routine might be just that – routine. After all, you have to rush out of the bed from the alarm or your mom, brush your teeth, go to the restroom, possibly shower, eat breakfast, and rush out the door to catch the bus. Now that we’ve entered a new era of Zoom, the morning and night routines may have changed. We might laze around as we hop on the bed to take our classes. We might eat breakfast (or skip it) while blankly watching the screens during class time.

So how important is it to maintain a good morning and night routine?

Imagine this. You wake up. You do your typical stuff (brush your teeth, go to the bathroom, eat breakfast) and then you add four more things that take 15 minutes total. You download a diary app and do positive journaling for the day. You set three expectations for yourself and you write down three things that you are thankful for. You then stretch for 5 minutes. This will help prevent any future injuries and keep you fresh for the day. Finally, you take 2 minutes to meditate and rest your brain.

Now before you sleep after a long day, let’s say you read an interesting book for 10 minutes. You keep all the lights in your room dim to prevent blue light from keeping you up. You talk to your parents/siblings about anything that bothered you during the day to keep bad thoughts out of your head before bed. You then put some special oils in your hair and put some night moisturizer before sleep.

Do you see the difference? Adding an extra 15 minutes during the morning and an extra 10 minutes before you sleep of productive habits will add amazing strides towards a better, fuller you in the future. Within just a month you can see awesome changes in your whole persona. Within a year, you can totally change your lifestyle. Your sleep will improve, and your daily mental set will be much more positive.

Stay safe! Having a positive mindset these days is extremely important.
