Middle School Excellence

Middle school excellence is the foundation of high performance in high school and college. We understand that middle school is an essential time for students to establish their own thoughts, develop personal hobbies, and build strong extracurricular activities. We wish to supplement their growth with our next-level innovative education strategies. We engage students in high-level and exciting real-world problems to ensure that they gain a plethora of important educational concepts. Our middle school education is focused on two major subjects: math and English.  

Our Results

  • 100% Pass Advanced SOL  Math and English scores

  •  70% students scored 600/600 in Math SOL

  • 30% students scored 600/600 in English SOL

  • Several students selected in school MathCounts team

Math Strategy 

New application areas are constantly discovered in the mathematical field, so we believe in cultivating talent in solving real-world problems and training students to become independent in solving complex problems. We don’t believe in one-dimensional mathematical learning concepts that just target a single standardized test or competition; rather, we help students develop the understanding and brilliance to shine in all these exams.
We follow from four key themes for mathematics:

  1. Foundation: Grade level math. Students are taught to excel in their classroom courses.

  2. PSAT level mathematics: pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, and some trigonometry for students to understand standardized math

  3. Creative problem solving: Use of Singapore math to gain understanding of word problems and apply mathematical concepts to real world problems.

  4. IIT foundation math: Use of IIT entrance books to enhance skills and introduce complete problem-solving skills

  5. Competition Math – provide exposure to middle schoolers on creative and complex problem solving which is not taught anywhere else

English Strategy

Our view of English is holistic, including writing, grammar, critical reading, and essential communication skills. We will guide your son/daughter to master the craft of writing and ensure that he/she will have the fundamental tools to deliver brilliant compositions.

We will be able to teach the basic elements (style, narrative perspective, grammar, sentence structure, appealing to the five senses, writing clearly and succinctly) as well as more advanced techniques (evoking strong emotions, writing from the heart, developing a genuine author's voice, and utilizing strong vocabulary).

 

In writing it is important to be able to write from the heart and be able to write beautifully, poetically, and succinctly. We incorporate several prompts from TJ/AOS admissions essays to make the course additionally useful for applying students. We provide personalized one-on-one essay feedback on all homework assignments, and ensure that students learn essential themes of reading comprehension, grammar skills, and key writing components.
